Haiku – Grounded Birds

A bunch of robins

Sitting and waiting on spring

In a field of grass

+

I don’t know why, but a day or so ago I came upon this open grassy area and turned to look at it. I honestly think there were about twenty robins just sitting there for no reason. They were turned in all directions as if waiting for something – not sure I have seen anything like it before. I guess maybe they thought, “if we congregate and concentrate together, spring will get here soon.” I hope it works, fingers crossed.

Eerie and fascinating. Moments like that stay with you. Maybe you can use it to inspire another story!

Maybe. Inspiration hits me all the time. We had a leak in the bathroom that seemed to appear and disappear at will. I called it Phantom Water and then the wheels started turning – that might be a title to a story.

Sounds like you have some great story ideas-I wonder about the water. I had over a hundred robins visiting for a couple days. I saw some late afternoon yesterday too. Think they are storing up food for their trip north. It was so much fun watching and listening to them 🙂

I keep seeing them. They were all over the yard today.
