Haiku – No Sleep for Writers

Rewrite pulls me up

Wakes me from peaceful slumber

Day starting early

+

Curious, fellow writers, what time of day works best for you? Are you a morning person like me or do you work best at other times of the day? Once my son gets up, and we start our day, if it doesn’t happen early or at nap time then by bed time I am a no go. Usually the couch and sleep are the only things I want once 7 at night rolls around.

I enjoyed your haiku. For me, the most productive time seems to be in the evening for working on longer pieces, and late afternoon for shorts. I wake often with rewriting in my mind too 🙂

I am always re-writing in my head. About drives me crazy when I am working on something. I even talk out loud sometimes to figure things out – drives my wife crazy. Thanks for the comment.

Well when my cousin writes her stories she rarely sleeps early. The earliest would be at 2am

I guess when the bug hits you got to just keep going. Me, I sleep, but if I am cooking on something I wake up after a few hours to start working on it.

I like to write in the mid-morning. By then, I have had several cups of coffee and breakfast. I am not a morning person though. four, five, six even seven are not a pleasant time for me. 🙂

I honestly get upset if I don’t wake up early. I know I’ve lost my best writing time. 4-7 in the morning are usually the best times for me – usually.
