That’s a good one–it’s indeed a hard job to be a GOOD parent.
It really is.
And that’s why I chose not to be a parent–I knew, from the poor example I’d been given, that the odds were good I’d be a bad mama. Didn’t think I should gamble on little lives.
You might have surprised yourself. Being a good parent is a natural easy thing to do. You just have to show them love and support. They will do the rest.
Being the oldest of 6, I had plenty of opportunities to catch the clues that I was headed into Mommy Dearest territory. I don’t regret my choice–and I enjoy being long-distance “Auntie” to friends’ kids.
So true, Anthony! And I wouldn’t miss it for anything.
Yeah, even the tough days are still so worth it.
