The clouds languish,
hang around
Like unwelcome guests,
they surround
2
My mood shifts, changes
Dreary day,
these unwelcome guests,
so cold and grey
3
Oh, unwelcome guests,
So full of dark today
Please, please, I beg of you,
go away

Oh, unwelcome guests,
So full of dark today
Please, please, I beg of you,
go away
Haunting as you hang
Ghost like, in the cloudless sky
A daytime specter
Ghost Moon 1
Transparent image
Hanging in a bright blue sky
Waiting for the dark
Loud thunder rumbling
Sound builds, fat, large, as it grows
Spring storm on the way
The muse dances, twirls
As rain falls from a black sky
Onto a parched Earth
(pen and ink work provided by my wife)
Hopes and fears take flight
As you wish upon a star
In a twinkling sky
The trees are alive
Full of nature’s soothing song
Music for my soul
Daylight Savings Time
Yes, Spring has sprung all over
Longer nights ahead
Spring Rising 1
The first day of March
Spring’s growth starting to blossom
Life wakes from slumber
Spring Rising 2
I hear birds chirping
Spring sounds push through the night’s dark
Warm days on the way
A cold morning wind
Rattles and cackles bare limbs
Chorus of the damned
Nip to the Air 1
Crisp, overcast day
Windows open, a cool breeze
Haunting, like a ghost
I hear birds chirping
Spring sounds push through the night’s dark
Warm days on the way
Spring Rising 1
The first day of March
Spring’s growth starting to blossom
Life wakes from slumber
The first day of March
Spring’s growth starting to blossom
Life wakes from slumber
Red bird in the rain
Migration has called you back
Harbinger of Spring
Red Bird 1
Red bird in the snow
Cold, late February day
What keeps you so warm?
Sunlight cascading,
fading, into nighttime’s grasp
Evening sky bleeds
After publishing this earlier today I realized two things, the last line had six syllables in it (evening is three not two) and I also wasn’t a big fan of the way I closed the original – Evening sky turns red.
I went ahead and made the changes and then published it the way I think it should have gone out, originally. Us poets, so neurotic, we have to get it right.
Thank you for reading. You are now free to move about the blog.
Here is the original Part 6: http://awrenfro.com/2013/02/25/haiku-sky-fire-6/
Sunlight cascading,
fading, into nighttime’s grasp
Evening sky turns red
Sky Fire 1
Grey storm clouds parting
Turning the sky into fire
Day ends in a blaze
Sky Fire 2
Sunlight fading fast
Leaving embers in the sky
Day takes one last breath
Sky Fire 3
Rays of sun explode
As the day is closing down
The sky above burns
Sky Fire 4
White cotton ball clouds
Burning on a light blue sky
The world turns crimson
Sky Fire 5
A flame colored light
Races across the white clouds
Turning them blood red
