Standing in shadows
Vampire watching his victim
Lusting for rich blood
Standing in shadows
Vampire watching his victim
Lusting for rich blood
The image flickers
Something moving in the room
White and transparent
Sweet pulsing crimson
Cocktail for eternal life
Blood drenched centuries
Boards creaking loudly
Ghostly steps on basement stairs
Spirit ascending
Riding a broomstick
Black dress flapping in the wind
Cackling as she flies
The spirit drifts – moves
Transparent nighttime motion
While the world slumbers

(pen and ink provided by my wife)
It was there,
just at the corner,
a twinkle,
a flash,
something quick,
fading out of sight.
Tick, tock, tick – night time
The hallway floor creaks softly
Footsteps in the dark
Ghostly creaks and moans
Rattle, Rattle, Rattle, Boo
Up and down the halls
Locked away inside
Something lurks in the darkness
Waiting to return
The room is cold,
no light filters into the gloom.
A quiet abandoned place,
dark, full of doom.
Footsteps echo,
walking across the floor.
I listen to them move,
as they reach the attic door.
The door opens,
closes back.
Footsteps on the stairs,
on a downward track.
I crawl inside my covers,
listen as the steps draw near.
Should I run?
Should I hide?
The covers shift,
the ghost is by my side.
As the rocking chair creaks,
I lie awake in bed,
with images of ghosts,
dancing in my head.
Why is the rocking chair moving?
Who or what is in the chair?
Rocking all night long,
without a single care.
Voices of the dead
I can hear you loud and clear
Talking through machines
Lost inside a trance
Victim cradled in his arms
Sharp fangs pierce the flesh
Man on a mower
Cutting between the gravestones
Corpses start to wake
The moon shining bright
Yellow and full in the sky
A lone howl erupts

These are two of the best Werewolf transformations to ever hit the cinema screen.
Graphic content. Sensitive audiences beware.
This was the first Haiku I wrote for the challenge this week. I just couldn’t wrap my head around what to write for the word “pin.” It was getting frustrating. Below are the three lines I came up with.
I can’t pin it down
Can’t think of a good Haiku
Too tough this Monday
Then these two popped into my mind.
I think they sound decent enough.
Pinned under a car
Spider-Man swings into help
There to save the day

Hair pinned up and neat
Ready for the junior prom
Waiting for her date

Anyway, do you want to take the challenge this week?
