My juices are spent
I’m just running in the red
Need some energy

Storm rolls through the black
Electric blue lights the night
Thick thunder rumbles
A classic rock band
Great music and smooth vocals
The sound of my youth

New School
vs.
Old School

I will always lean to the Steve Perry years because that is what I know and grew up on, but that song Resonate is pretty solid. I hadn’t heard it before I worked on this post and wound up listening to it a few times. Really, really, good song – solid like they have always been even with a new lead singer.
So, your call, New School or Old School, what’s your choice?

The morning sun squeezed
Eased into the cloudy day
White clouds set on fire
+++
Flip Flops in the rain
Feeling so much pain
The warm sandy beach
So far from their reach
On this long gloomy day
So full of dark and grey
The old man approached
Squeezed into the small white chair
Youthful days returned
…
Quiet solitude
Morning rests in soft slumber
The day gently wakes

Hair Metal, maybe?
Good, solid, and fun music
You can’t beat this group

Maybe this group isn’t a guy’s go to choice, understand that completely. There is something about them though that still sounds good to me – except “Cherry Pie”. They should really ban that song from ever being played – a slight tarnish on a good band’s legacy. Still digging this song – love a good power ballad.
Part 1
Cigar smoke twirls,
spins, whirls
snares the fan above
Part 2
Humid air
cut it like a knife
Man sits alone
drink in hand
coke and rum
Part 3
A spy perhaps
Maybe just a sailor
Tropical tourist
or world traveler
Part 4
The bar rings
sings
with music
and people
Man watches
He’s home
at peace
by the ocean
Loosely inspired by this song:
How is love measured?
Faith, honor, dedication
Through good times and bad
♥
A cat’s brave courage
Measured with scared paws and claws
My son starts to walk
******
There once was a mole named Larry
Who wasn’t very hairy
His skin was pink
So he started to stink
And his friends all moved away

My son has a book by Jack Prelutsky called: The New Kid on the Block.
While I was reading it I thought up this poem.
Here’s an example of one of his poems.
Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face by Jack Prelutsky
Be glad your nose is on your face,
not pasted on some other place,
for if it were where it is not,
you might dislike your nose a lot.
Imagine if your precious nose
were sandwiched in between your toes,
that clearly would not be a treat,
for you’d be forced to smell your feet.
Your nose would be a source of dread
were it attached atop your head,
it soon would drive you to despair,
forever tickled by your hair.
Within your ear, your nose would be
an absolute catastrophe,
for when you were obliged to sneeze,
your brain would rattle from the breeze.
Your nose, instead, through thick and thin,
remains between your eyes and chin,
not pasted on some other place–
be glad your nose is on your face!
