This was the first Haiku I wrote for the challenge this week. I just couldn’t wrap my head around what to write for the word “pin.” It was getting frustrating. Below are the three lines I came up with.
I can’t pin it down
Can’t think of a good Haiku
Too tough this Monday
Then these two popped into my mind.
I think they sound decent enough.
Pinned under a car
Spider-Man swings into help
There to save the day
+
Hair pinned up and neat
Ready for the junior prom
Waiting for her date
+
Anyway, do you want to take the challenge this week?

A quick one night stand
Dusting off the marriage rust
Lust and ecstasy
+
Back to the routine
A normal day to day life
One night stand erased
+
Two quick weeks later
Man finds a bloody bundle
Laying on his desk
Fearing for his life
The fool entertained the king
Hoping for laughter
+
King sat silently
No smile upon his harsh face
The fool was sentenced
+
Off to the dungeon
The fool protested loudly
Drug away screaming
+
The fool smiled through pain
Lying in his harsh cold cell
Visitor approached
+
Unlocking the cage
The queen helped the fool escape
Lovers embracing

Moonlight casting rays,
buttery light fills the ground,
the night is alive,
with nocturnal sound.
What hides inside the shadows?
Creeps among the black,
using this golden light,
only for attack.
Is it a Werewolf?
Transformed by the moon,
or some other creature,
awoken to soon.
A simple pay day
One job – lots and lots of cash
Two very rich men

An abandoned house
Nestled in a dark forest
Ancient and empty

Time for their quick easy score
Something hidden stirs

I hear dead people,
talking through machines.
I hear dead people,
talking crisp and clean.
Laying on the desk
File filled with hidden secrets
Things he had done wrong
+
PI in his chair
Fedora and suit pressed tight
Watching her response
+
Soft tears on her cheek
Silently vowing revenge
Cold gun in her purse

Frozen land, far from site.
Do you know there are ghosts down there?
From companies long abandoned,
and ships that have washed aground,
leaving restless souls from bodies never found.
Who knew that cold world was so active?
With spirit life.
Who knew the dead?
Walk.
Night after night.
Buzzing all about
Large white bug inside the room
Flying on small wings

Movement above me
Something in the attic dark
Stirring all about
Hail to the sunshine
Provider of warmth and light
Thanks for all you do

She floats – transparent
Ghost descending down the stairs
She evaporates

I am cold upon this floor,
in the spot I lie.
embers – out
blizzard – strong
I lift a gentle sigh,
breath white in front of me.
The snow – all around.
Entombed
Peace I finally see.
