Pumpkin on the porch
Cut, carved, and decorated
Time for Halloween
🎃
Do you enjoy carving pumpkins each year? We usually do. Haven’t yet, a bit early, but we probably will later on in the month.

Opening his eyes
Something in the dark staring
While he is sleeping
☠️
Man screams in terror
The shape slowly dissipates
Red eyes lingering
Walking on a path
Forest pressing in tightly
Sound of leaves crunching
+
Stop, turn, look, and stare
Something moving soft and slow
Growling with hunger
+
Feet starting to run
Multiple sounds erupting
Forest comes alive
+
Creatures on the hunt
Surrounded, no where to go
He stops, starts to plan
+
A shot rings loudly
Something screams in the distance
Voices shouting out
+
Man takes off running
He thinks of safety and hope
Feet are light and quick
In the eastern sky
Splashes of red appearing
Dawn’s light approaching

I wrote this paragraph for a 100 words or less flash fiction contest.
I thought I would share it.
Night closing. Dawn approaching. Vampire walks into the tomb after a long night of feasting. He sees his love, his eternal companion, nestled in her coffin. He looks around at the empty blood bags lying on the floor, a Vampire afraid of killing humans, she is a strange one. He hangs the full blood bags in the refrigerator, closes the door, and once again looks at the mess. He shakes his head, ageless shoulder length blonde hair rustling, and smiles – “Holy cow, that’s a lot of empties,” he replies and crawls into his coffin, settles in. The day arrives.
Bright red eyes watching
Studying its nice warm prey
The beast stands, waiting
+
Day starting to turn
Edging slowly into night
Time for it to feed
Down in the damp crypt
Rotten flesh resurrecting
Lusting for warm blood
