Cascading gently
Soft tropical waterfall
Warm and inviting

Funny how we are inspired to write. I came up with warm tropical waterfall while washing my sons hands before he had breakfast. I thought, that would be a great line in a Haiku. So, I sat down and wrote this one out this morning. Hope you enjoy it.

Ocean side
Sitting with my toes
Firmly planted in the sand
Underneath a loud flapping palm tree

Great version of this Buffett classic.
Soft white snow falling
Cascading down from dark skies
Cold and dreary day

I wrote this Haiku this morning as the snow settled in for a bit. It didn’t stick, gone by noon, but it was beautiful while it lasted. This weather in NC is so crazy. Yesterday I had on shorts and it was in the low sixties while today it was barely out of the thirties with thick heavy flakes of snow for a bit. So, how’s your weather wherever you are? How about something to take our mind off of all this cold stuff?

I woke up after the 3 a.m. feed this morning with a Jimmy Buffett song playing on my headphone (yes, I said head phone. I lost the ear bud cover to the other piece, so I lopped off that one and just kept the one. Helps when feeding the baby or listening out for her cries). Anyway, a Buffett song was on and it got me thinking about the beach. Then that got me thinking about this Haiku.

I’ve been listening to this song for a long time, and now it resonates with me so much more. I thought I would post it along with this Haiku today. My girl is only 5 days old, and yes, I am making her a Parrothead already.

As a total out of the blue side bar, I have to share this one today. My 3-year-old son said he liked the song “Margaritaville” today without me prompting him first. A lot of times if he acts like he likes a song or hums to it or something like that (mostly kid’s songs), I will ask if he likes it. He will say something about it, but today out of the blue he just said he liked “Margaritaville” with no prompting first. He’s been listening to Buffett and “Margaritaville” since he was at least 3 months old, maybe earlier than that. Kind of nice to know that I might just be raising another Parrothead. He loves the salt, salt, salt part of this song. Enjoy.
