This Haiku was inspired by this post: Sherry Fundin.
Check out her site for awesome book reviews and occasional side bars.
She has been a big supporter of mine. Thanks Sherry for all you’ve done for me.
Here’s the Haiku:
A boat on the water
Sails full, filled with warm salt air
Sea breeze in my face
Thermometer quit
Packed up its bags and moved south
Be back next summer
+
Record cold high yesterday, record low last night, record cold high today – I think it might be time to find a tropical port somewhere warm and sandy. How about you? Are you ready for spring? Just give me a like if you are.
Slip-sliding today
Frozen ground drenched in bright white
Teeth chattering cold
+
Thought we might need this today.
Sunshine dominates
Pushes away the grey thoughts
With its warming rays
+

Splashing and twinkling
Christmas tree decorated
Bright ruby-red lights

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs sung a few different ways.
Misty drizzly day
Grey and fog-like atmosphere
Day starts out with gloom

Jimmy Buffett plays
Like a wave, the music flows
A soft gentle ease
+
Off to music class
My son and I together
Happy bonding time
Set upon a half crescent beach
Destination solitary ease
White sand covers toes
Time runs as you please
+
A small scattered crowd
Playing to the paycheck guys
On Saturday night
•
Hellish summer night
Dampness holds me with moist arms
Soup like pre-storm air
…
Have to dedicate this one to Jimmy Buffett – his music got me through it tonight.

Saturday morning
The weekend has now arrived
It’s time to relax
•
Humid moist thickness
Cloudy blanket of wet fog
Over the windows
•
Dark black clouds hanging
Thick, fat, heavy with spring rain
Running hard today

Good day out there on the old running shoes. I had one of my better timed runs. For the 4 mile walk/run that I usually do, I don’t think, of course, don’t quote me on this, but I don’t think I have been under 50 minutes since I started doing it. I was just over 48 minutes earlier today, which may not seem like much to most folks, but for me that is a turning point. I’ve always been a slow runner. Nice to see the legs maybe churning in my favor. How about you, fellow runners, what kind of times do you shoot for? Do you have a best time, one you are proud of? Just shout it out to me if you do.
By the way, there’s a reason I love Jimmy Buffett’s music so much. I wasn’t sure I was in the mood for it when I started running today, but after a couple of songs I was feeling those mellow vibes all over again. Just something about his tunes that takes me away, and hooks me every time. I have always loved this song below, and I never tire of it. Classic.
Jimmy Buffett Days
Warm sun on the horizon
Summer on the way

Time change, longer days, warmer days, so much heading our way. Can’t wait till this winter ends. Who’s with me? Done with winter or do you need just a little bit more?
My legs they pounded
Under a bewitching blue
A warm sun above

I’m really starting to enjoy running in this nice weather. I know it isn’t spring yet, but it felt like it today. Nice to not have to wear the winter gear, just shorts and a tee-shirt. So nice.

Shoreline cast away
Drunk on peace and solitude
Palm trees dance and sway

Part 1
Cigar smoke twirls,
spins, whirls
snares the fan above
Part 2
Humid air
cut it like a knife
Man sits alone
drink in hand
coke and rum
Part 3
A spy perhaps
Maybe just a sailor
Tropical tourist
or world traveler
Part 4
The bar rings
sings
with music
and people
Man watches
He’s home
at peace
by the ocean
Loosely inspired by this song:
Time to get away
A week of ocean relief
Soul healing water
Getting away for a bit so the blogging will be limited for a while. I will still have access, but not as much time to post. Will be back in a week or so.
