Sugar to my soul

Carolina Day 1
Blue skies and no clouds
A warm, bright, and beautiful
Carolina day
Carolina Day 2
Sun filled, light blue sky
Casual white clouds drifting
Lazy hammock day
Carolina Day 3
My shoulder, nap time
Son’s gentle breath in my ear
Secure, safe, and warm
Motley colored fool
Running until my guts hurt
3 very tough miles

Running mojo for the day:
Your body will argue that there is no justifiable reason to continue. Your only recourse is to call on your spirit, which fortunately functions independently of logic.

I find grace with you
Peace, love, happiness, joy
Daily abundance
This has long be a favorite quote of mine. It gives me motivation when my runs get tough.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Last week I had some good responses doing this, so I thought I would try it again. Share, if you will, a poem or haiku based off of the word glory. It doesn’t have to be religious based. Whatever represents glory in your mind is all I am looking for. You can post it to your blog and include the link in the comments section or you can write it and leave it in the comments section. Your choice. Thanks again for reading, following, and participating.
The distance, easy
5 miles without stopping once,
on a cool grey day
Inspirational quote from Kara Goucher:
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

We should praise this day
Let the sun shine down on us
The cold has no hold
Okay, so I did this last week and I thought I would try it again, but this time a little different.
If you so desire you can write a Haiku or Poem based off the word Praise and what it means to you.
You can leave it in the comment section below or post it in your blog and then provide the link in the comment section below. It is clearly your choice or you can just hit the like button. Whatever works for you.
Thanks again for participating.
I see you sitting there,
brewing, stewing, hot.
Acting like you’re something,
something in that pot.
♠
You are a constant,
an always endless need.
A sudden caffeine warning,
whose advice you better heed.
♣
One cup, two cups
three cups, four.
Lusting, lusting,
always needing more.
♦
An addiction,
passing through my veins.
Driving me along,
holding all the reigns.
Midnight is calling
Just outside my window pane
In a star filled night
§
The night marches on
Midnight taps on my shoulder
Need to get some sleep
§
A tough wake up call
Baby is teething early
Midnight got here quick
Listening to music
with my wife and son
Nostalgia
Rushes over me
in a musical wave
I almost can’t take the flow
the speed
as it rushes
washing me down
I’m caught in the undertow
I give in
I let it take me
I float
I drift
On a sea of Time
Thinking back
Memories
cruising days
What happened?
Where’s that magic track?
The one that will take us back
When music was –
friends
buds
and
suds
Records
Tapes
CD’s
my youth
rushed by so fast
I hope my son
will have memories
like mine
Oh Nostalgia
I love you so
Yes,
Take it to the limit one more time
Now it’s your turn. Flood my comment section below with bands or songs that take you back. Give me a reason why if you want. You don’t have to though. Sometimes the artist or song alone will tell the tale.
A father holds his son
Comfort in his daddy’s arms
Precious one
Your eyes tell me what I need to know
Love I see
Happiness
I just want to give you the world
I just want to hand it to you on a silver platter
I just want to let you know it will always be okay
Just stay in my arms
Rock with me in this chair
Fall asleep in peace
Dream in slumber
I’ve got you
Feel safe
Feel warm
Heart to heart
Beat to beat
Nothing greater than this love

The world needs to see just how great you’re love is
Because

I have wanted to try a shape poem for some time. Can you guess what it is? I hope to do more of these in the future.
This is the detective’s side of the story.

Christmas Eve – first snow
Detective picks up the trail
Killer has no clue
—
Eyes for just the prize
Dressed out in a Santa suit
The detective waits
—
Hidden by shadow
Watching the seasonal beat
of twinkling white lights
—
Killer makes his move
Detective saves this Christmas for
one lucky victim
—
The white lights sparkle
Detective arrives at home
Christmastime is safe
Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope you guys have a great holiday.

It’s now up to you
Ouch, that hurt.
What’s that you say?
Getting over the hill,
going to need some kind of pill,
to keep the aches,
and pains at bay.
Pish posh, I say.
I feel eighteen, in a way.
Well.
My mind is young.
At least.
Even if my body, isn’t.
Ouch.
Crack, my bones,
like an egg.
There’s that pain again.
Wait, it’s on the other side as well.
Oh hell.
Creak.
Crack.
Like an old well-worn door.
Or an old squeaky floor.
Turning 40 today.
Can you believe it?
In honor of my birthday I thought I would crank out a Jimmy Buffett song. This one seems to fit the day.
Growing Older But Not Up

I want to spew,
vomit from my mouth,
when I hear the news.
Massacre they say.
It happens too often.
How many lives?
How many should we lose?
What can be done?
My heart is wrapped in barbed wire,
the barbs cutting deep into the meat,
restricting the flow.
I can’t feel my legs.
I’m numb to the touch.
The victims I pray for.
The loved ones who are left behind.
I pray for you as well.
Life is so fragile.
I can’t believe how quick it goes.
Hold your loved one today.
Hold them tight like you never want them to go.
Love, we all need.
Peace on Earth.
Indeed.
With all the massacres we’ve endured as of late I just thought I had to write something about it. Anyone reading this, for me, please, go and hug your kids. Go and hug your significant other. Call your parents and tell them you love them. Just do something. Make sure your loved ones know how much you love them.
Christmastime of year
With a soft white snow falling
Killer spies his prize
This is something new that I wanted to try. Over the next 5 Sundays I plan to tell a story via Haiku in 5 parts. I hope you enjoy them. Let me know what you think.
