Morning’s caffeine revival
Coursing through my veins
Empty coffee mug
Morning’s caffeine revival
Coursing through my veins
The coo of a dove
Morning lights up with your song
Peaceful and serene
Frogs in unison
Singing a nighttime chorus
Under a full moon
Train whistle blasting
Across the tranquil morning
Echoing loudly
A baby blue jay
Stopping by to say hello
On a sunny day

At the crack of dawn
Birds singing in unison
Fills up the silence
A puddle of sun
Drenched in the warmth of sunshine
Pure relaxation
Bright honeysuckle
Growing wild, untamed, and free
Mother Nature’s treat

Flowers of yellow
Sunshine under cloudy skies
Brighten up the day

Shimmering blackbird
Soaring in the bright blue sky
A perfect contrast
Raindrops are falling
Tumbling from a dark grey sky
Softly splattering

Blue and grey mixture
Spread across the morning sky
Lingering rain clouds
🌧
Field of butter cups
Among the towering grass
A splash of yellow

And to all the mothers reading this right now – Happy Mother’s Day!

A cool ghostly kiss
Cemetery lips on skin
Pressed to his forehead
Funny thing. This Haiku was inspired by something tickling my nose as I went to bed last night. I assume it was a piece of string or the bed sheet – but, who knows?
Dull tomato red
Piercing the new morning sky
Storm about to break
When I got out of bed this morning the sky looked amazing and it looked like it was about to burst with the most violent storm I had ever seen. Thankfully it didn’t, but it did inspire this Haiku.
The evening descends
Like a thick blanket of fear
Nighttime forthcoming
Windows are open
The sounds of Mother Nature
Flowing through the screen
Sitting in my car
Reflecting on memories
Childhood days gone by

Well, it’s Star Wars day. May the 4th be with you. And the Song Lines and Tan Lines Podcast just dropped a very special Star Wars episode. Have a great day.
Two bunnies courting
Racing around the small bush
A spring mating dance

A damp musty crypt
Down inside the thick darkness
Vampire waits for night

Watched this great Vampire movie a couple of nights ago and it helped to inspire this Haiku. Are you a Vampire fan? Just curious. And, shameless plug, I plan to cover this one on my Nightlight Tales Podcast – eventually.

Sometimes things happen that are so strange you can’t explain them. While my kids were watching a nature video this morning we started getting visited by a couple of birds. They actually wound up landing on our window screen, bobbing their heads back and forth, as they tried to figure out what was going on inside our house. Never seen a bird do that. Seemed like they were trying to see what we were watching. Guess the nature video peeked their interest.
