A bunch of robins
Sitting and waiting on spring
In a field of grass
+
I don’t know why, but a day or so ago I came upon this open grassy area and turned to look at it. I honestly think there were about twenty robins just sitting there for no reason. They were turned in all directions as if waiting for something – not sure I have seen anything like it before. I guess maybe they thought, “if we congregate and concentrate together, spring will get here soon.” I hope it works, fingers crossed.

Snow filled summer seats

Another Tuesday, another round of winter weather, this time snow instead of sleet and ice. They are saying we are due for another storm on Wednesday Night/Thursday Morning. Warm all winter in N. Carolina, and in 2 weeks possibly three winter storms, 2 down maybe 1 more to go. As I type this I can see snow falling from a storm that wasn’t predicted to hit like this. Supposed to be in the sixties next week. Crazy.
Sitting in the black
Somber tones of reflection
Night’s golden silence

Thermometer quit
Packed up its bags and moved south
Be back next summer

Record cold high yesterday, record low last night, record cold high today – I think it might be time to find a tropical port somewhere warm and sandy. How about you? Are you ready for spring? Just give me a like if you are.
Slip-sliding today
Frozen ground drenched in bright white
Teeth chattering cold

Thought we might need this today.

Refuse to give in
Hold tight to your desires

Dreams do usually come true, but maybe not in the way you expect them to. I thought my dreams were one thing when I was a young man, now, I realize I hadn’t even begun to dream about the things I truly wanted way back then. Family, faith, home, love, those are the dreams I didn’t even know I was dreaming until they happened.
I was inspired to write this Haiku by this blog post this morning:

With all my errands this morning, I am surprised that I managed to get this walk/run (more walking than running right now) in today. I had to go though, because an arctic blast is headed our way, and I couldn’t pass up this day. Going to be cold for a few days after this. Overnight lows in the lower teens, day time highs in the twenties and thirties – cold. Not as bad as some though. All of those trapped by winter I am wishing you a lot of warm thoughts.

As a sidebar, unrelated to running – I read this great article this morning and I wanted to share it with you guys. I found it fascinating. You might too.
Here it is:
Scott Kelly has found an unusual way to maintain a youthful advantage over his twin brother Mark. Next month, he will blast off on a year-long mission on board the International Space Station, a journey that will have one unintended consequence. During his 12 months in space, Scott will age less than his earthbound brother – thanks to the tenets of Einstein’s theories of relativity.
“The effect is known as the twin paradox, though it is not actually a paradox, it is a straightforward consequence of the laws of relativity,” says Mark, who has also flown on several space missions including two as a space shuttle commander. “Essentially, time will pass slightly more slowly for Scott than for me because he will be travelling at a greater speed relative to me.”
