A night-time rumble
Windows full of flashing light
Loud cascading rain

Face on the window
Made up of liquid droplets
Staring back at me

I’m hoping to re-publish this short story today – 6/26/2015.

I wrote this one this morning when my son and I went out for a walk to the park. I thought we went early, but by the time we got home at 9:15 we were sweating buckets. The site A Prompt Each Day had the word “fire” as the prompt for the day, and I thought this Haiku would fit that prompt perfectly.

Hoping the ring was not heard

About to get blasted with heat down here in N.C. – four-day stretch next week for highs: 99, 100, 98, 99. And that isn’t even factoring in the heat index. Guess summer his here.
How do you deal with the heat?
Me, just stick inside where it is cool.
Sleeping through the night
Son in his big boy bed
First time, all night long

My son has just moved over to his big boy bed. One day the crib, next his big boy bed. Growing so fast. I thought I would share this news, because I am so proud of him. I don’t know if you have seen this blog or not, but I have started talking about being not only a parent, but a stay at home dad. You can check out that blog here: daddystayhome.wordpress.com
How did you parents reading this handle your child’s sleep transition? Just curious.
A barren parched land
Drops of rain falling softly
Quenching nature’s thirst
Heat wave coming on
Days filled with ninety degrees
Starting to cook here

On her brown broomstick she rides
Laughing at their tears

When is your favorite time for coffee?
Me, somewhere between 6 and 7 in the morning. I must have my first cup by then or – well there is no or there. I must have it by then.
Bird’s singing outside
Happy for the rain last night
Time for a quick bath

Big storm last night, mostly liquid, no thunder or lightning, but the showers were so heavy at times that I thought the roof was going to cave in. Woke me up for a bit.
As a sidebar, I have started a new blog with a couple of buddies of mine. It is a blog about trying to be a Christian and walking with our faith each day. Tough to do. Here’s the link: unitedbythree.wordpress.com

I write a lot of Haiku and Poetry for my other blog: awrenfro.com. I thought I might start posting some of my Christian based poetry from that site to this site.
Standing in the breeze
Her raincoat pulled closed and tight
Sleep haunting her eyes
