Vultures
I did a series of shorts on my Verse of Nature Channel for vultures. I saw this bird eating a carcass in our neighborhood and then sitting on a roof. Looked ominous. Grabbed my phone and started recording.
First up is the first short – the one from the roof top.
Second one is from a driveway.
And feeling inspired I created this creepy haiku.
Do you enjoy vultures or do you find them creepy or ominous?

What’s your definition of romantic?
Being in the moment and totally committed to the person you love. No phones or computers or distractions. Just you and your significant other hanging out and being together. For me personally. I love watching a movie with my wife and sharing that experience or getting out on a long walk and exploring the world around us.

How do you express your gratitude?
Trying to be kind and pleasant to those I encounter each day. A simple good morning or how’s it going to a stranger can make a huge difference.

What are you most worried about for the future?
The climate. I don’t think we are taking it seriously enough. Too much misinformation in social media and the news. It’s political now and it shouldn’t be. I can walk outside in July and know it’s hotter now than ten years ago. If that’s not climate change then what is it? I want to leave my kids with a better future. Here’s hoping I can.

What do you enjoy most about writing?
Being creative and using that creativity to make things exist that never existed before. Also love how writing can be used in many different ways and create many things like movies and books and blogs and podcasts etc.

What do you love about where you live?
The weather. Doesn’t get really cold too often in Raleigh North Carolina. Would prefer a warmer climate but I do enjoy most of the seasons.
Easy drive to the beach or mountains.
Great places to walk. Good schools for my kids. Plenty of things to do when I go out.

If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?
Hawaiian Shirts and mixed drinks and play beach music or classic rock all day. Maybe some hair metal too.

If you won two free plane tickets, where would you go?
I would take my wife somewhere – maybe Europe or New York or Southeast Asia or Iceland or any of the Nordic Countries.
If I could use one ticket for myself I would go to Australia and use the other one to fly to somewhere isolated and tropical. Just me and a beach.

What’s your go-to comfort food?
Pizza. Even though I am now Gluten Free I still love it.
Anything sweet. Ice cream. Cookies. Pastries. Candy. If I need some comfort I turn to sugar most of the time.

The card game Skip-Bo is one of my favorites.
