Loud train horn blowing
Across the solid steel tracks
Wheels rolling forward

There is just something about a train whistle. It reminds me of my childhood and staying the night at my grandparent’s house. She lived over in the coal area of the Appalachian Mountains and those coal trains used to rattle by a lot back then. Good memories. So, what do you think when you hear a train whistle?

I also had two other closing lines for this one. Curious what you guys thought of them. Do you think either one of these would have been a better way to close this Haiku?

I’ve gotten hooked on Canadian Football – keeps me pre-occupied until the NFL and College Football starts back in the fall. This year though I might have to try and squeeze in some Canadian Football as well. If you need a football fix then this is your way to go until the fall. This is real football with real stakes right in the middle of summer. Sounds good to me. Find more on the CFL here: www.cfl.ca

Do you guys like to do puzzles? I’ve tinkered with them and I have found that the last ten pieces or so can be the hardest to do. Especially if you are working on white clouds or a solid color – like a sky or an ocean scene. I always do the border first and then fill in the middle, leaving the solid colors for the very last. That’s just me though.
