Soft grayness lingers
Milky clouds, empty of rain
Threaten the sunshine

How about a song to kick start the weekend?

How about a song to kick start the weekend?
It is official
Spring is upon us today
Outside, cold and wet
+
Spring has arrived, finally, but it is 40 and rainy here right now. Doesn’t really seem very Spring-like to me.
Heard this really great song this morning. Thought I would share it with you. Kind of helps with the cold weather.
Morning starts to stir
Nighttime bends, folds, and conforms
To a new sunrise
The bright red rock skimmed
Across the blue lake it bounced
One, two, three, four times
+
A tough prompt this week. I had to look up the definition of this word just to kind of find a subject for this Haiku. I’m still not sure it is a great Haiku, but it does stay true to the meaning of the word “skim.” That is the word prompt at this site this week: HAIKU HORIZONS. Good luck.
Strawberry-blue sky
Sunrise mixed, tangled, twisted
In clouds of bright white
Bare naked tree limbs
Out-stretched arms reaching upwards
To the spring sunshine
Take refuge winter
Find a good safe hiding spot
Spring is back again

A bunch of robins
Sitting and waiting on spring
In a field of grass
+
I don’t know why, but a day or so ago I came upon this open grassy area and turned to look at it. I honestly think there were about twenty robins just sitting there for no reason. They were turned in all directions as if waiting for something – not sure I have seen anything like it before. I guess maybe they thought, “if we congregate and concentrate together, spring will get here soon.” I hope it works, fingers crossed.
Snow filled summer seats
Frozen white powdered landscape
Trees hanging heavy
Precipitation
Drapes the world in endless white
Fat flakes falling soft

Another Tuesday, another round of winter weather, this time snow instead of sleet and ice. They are saying we are due for another storm on Wednesday Night/Thursday Morning. Warm all winter in N. Carolina, and in 2 weeks possibly three winter storms, 2 down maybe 1 more to go. As I type this I can see snow falling from a storm that wasn’t predicted to hit like this. Supposed to be in the sixties next week. Crazy.
Thermometer quit
Packed up its bags and moved south
Be back next summer

Record cold high yesterday, record low last night, record cold high today – I think it might be time to find a tropical port somewhere warm and sandy. How about you? Are you ready for spring? Just give me a like if you are.
Slip-sliding today
Frozen ground drenched in bright white
Teeth chattering cold

Thought we might need this today.
